Museum of Bells and Pipes

Museum of Bells and Pipes

The Museum of Bells and Pipes was established in September 2001 and has been nicely incorporated into the architecture of the late Baroque Clock Tower. This tower was built in the years 1775-1777 as the belfry of the Uniate cathedral and after the secularization it became the property of the city, and in 1983 it became the property of the National Museum of Przemyśl. The last renovation made that the axis of its storeys was adapted to the exhibition functions and the exhibition of monuments of bell-foundry and pipe-making was arranged – the products from which our city is still famous in the country and abroad.

An unusual collection of bells and pipes is spread over several floors of the tower. It’s enough to say that there are still eleven pipe makers in the town (that’s why Przemyśl is called the pipe industry) and two bell founders. In the museum, however, we also find equipment coming from many more regions. Each of the floors of the tower was devoted to show – either pipes (the first and seventh floor) or bells (from the second to the fifth floor).

Wandering around the museum will end with an exit to the observation spot and the view of the most interesting panorama of Przemyśl city. The castle hill, preceded by the cathedral and Baroque churches, looks particularly beautiful. You must see the museum in Przemyśl, if you are here.
