Cathedral in Przemyśl
The main temple of the Archdiocese of Przemyśl, located at the Cathedral Square and Zamkowa Street, leading to the Kazimierzowski Castle. The construction of the present cathedral in the Gothic style was started by Bishop Mikołaj Błażejowski in 1495 (together with the Chapter).
The construction of the Cathedral lasted 100 years until 1559. In the following years, a Renaissance chapel was added, and in the 18th century, the entire cathedral was rebuilt, when unfortunately a tragedy occurred, because the vault collapsed, destroying the equipment. The rebuilt temple was given the character of the Baroque.
Inside the church there are tombstones of Anna and Jan Fredro, and Bishop Jan Dziaduski. Next to the cathedral is a late-baroque tower – belfry from 1764. There are four statues on the tower, about four meters high. The whole tower reaches a height of 71 meters.
